The announcement was made on Twitter on Monday.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri presented the new feature of the famous social network.

As BFM TV reports, Instagram users will now be able to put a "like" reaction to a story without sending a message to the person concerned.

Previously, users could react to this short-lived post as a thumbnail by choosing from eight proposed reactions.

These reactions then involved sending an automatic message to the person who posted the story.

From this Tuesday, users can be satisfied with a "Like" which will be visible only to the two Internet users who have received and deposited it.

❤️ Private Story Likes ❤️

Starting to roll out today, you can now send some love by liking people's stories without sending a DM.

Likes on stories are private and do not have counts.

Rather, they appear as hearts next to people's handles in your Stories view sheet.

A feature to lighten messaging

To do this, they will need to tap on a heart icon located on the stories page.

From then on, a heart will no longer appear in the messaging system but in the list of users who have viewed the publication, next to the profile photo of the person who originated it.

“The idea is to make sure that users can support each other, but also to lighten the messaging a bit,” said the CEO on Twitter.

According to BFMTV, if the deployment of this new feature starts on Tuesday, its generalization to all of the approximately 1.22 billion users of the application in the world could take several weeks.
