The smartwatch market is even more bipartisan than the mobile market, with Apple and Samsung far above any third party that wants to storm the skies.

However, proposals such as that of the Russian company Mobvoi, with its

TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra

, allow us to believe in a sector with interesting alternatives, a League in which Atlético, Sevilla or Real Sociedad can scare the omnipresence of their individuals. Real Madrid and Barca.

To achieve this, the company relies on the operating system for Google smartwatches, Android Wear, which unites a device that has little to envy its rivals.

TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is an alternative to say the least and not many watches can say that.

Its price (

299 euros for the GPS version and 359 for the 4G model

) may seem high, although not exaggerated.

Android Wear contributes with an interesting catalog of applications and spheres, simple and intuitive gesture control (by default, with direct access to its assistant, which contributes something) and, above all, some hope in terms of updates and support. .

In general, it is an elegant watch that manages to solve very well the visual oxymoron of combining a classic body with a full color screen.

The materials are, in general, quite noble and even the plastic - which, it is true, would look better if it were a metal - seems of quality.

Despite its size, the weight - about

41 grams

- is perfect: neither high nor does it seem like a toy.

The screen is 1.4 inches, which gives space for a lot of information, which is presented in a more or less orderly way depending on the sphere.

The two buttons (open, respectively, the applications menu and sports activity modes) are located on the right and the bezel, with its small notches, gives another touch that adds personality.

The strap, made of imitation leather in the unit we tested, varies depending on the model and, in any case, can be easily replaced.

All in all, its appearance is that of a smart watch that

tries to find its own way

.

He neither drinks too much from other models nor does he seem particularly concerned about passing for a classic watch, but, at the same time, he does not break with the expected canons of circumference, knight and king.

The resolution of the screen has little to envy to that of a phone and stands out especially in the most modern spheres (those that imitate a traditional clock only give the hit from afar) or when displaying information from some of the applications.

It is also remarkable that it is not necessary, far from it, to put the battery at risk with an exaggerated brightness to see the time clearly in full sun.

The tactile aspect is well resolved and responds perfectly to the commands entered at the touch of a finger.

In this sense, another of the successes of the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra is its 'double' screen.

It's not that it's foldable -we don't give ideas, that weirder things have been seen-, but in addition to its full-color AMOLED panel,

it mounts another FSTN screen above it

.

This allows the clock to display information without the need to turn on the main panel (ie with minimal battery consumption) which looks like a calculator.

In addition, it has a customizable color backlight that gives it another touch of personality.

The battery, thanks in part to this double screen, achieves a very considerable autonomy, with two days of easy use, up to three with some moderation and the possibility of reaching a fourth if the measurement of sports activities and time is limited. the screen is used.

In essential mode (as if it were a Casio of a lifetime, go) it reaches 45 days.

The downside is the absence of fast charging to save those who forget to replace the battery at night.

The base, by the way, does not cover the entire back of the watch and uses, as is often the case, its own connector that should not be lost.

All this, of course, depends on the use to which it is put.

And it can be a lot.

It will have a classic body, but the insides are of a product focused on sports or, at least, on monitoring: heart rate sensor (capable of detecting irregular heartbeats and variability), blood oxygen meter, step counter (actually, the joint work of the motion sensor, the accelerometer and the gyroscope), barometer, fatigue evaluation or sleep monitoring.

It has 100 training modes and can be used for swimming or just about any sport.

In general,

the measurement is correct

, although not as much as in a 100% sports device.

Mobvoi's apps quite naturally complement what the watch does, although visually it leaves something to be desired and requires creating an additional account.

Between what Google offers with Wear OS and what the manufacturer provides, the needs are covered -with some redundancy- without problems.

When it comes to exercise, your body helps again.

On the one hand, it is not annoying thanks to the weight of it;

on the other, it is capable of withstanding the sessions

without us having to fear for its integrity in the event of falls, balls or small bumps

.

Of course, it is also bulky enough so that in any sport, contact or not, it is seen with bad eyes by the rival and ends up on the bench.

All in all, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, especially in the 4G/LTE version, will convince those who want a connected device for sports and are in an Android environment or reject the visual proposal that usually accompanies smart watches.

A third way that is worth betting on, at least for those who are willing to launch a stake of 300 euros.
