According to a Bloomberg article, several Activision executives would like to slow down the pace of

Call of Duty

releases so that they no longer release a new episode every year but every x years.

Nothing would be acted at the moment.

However, the poor sales of the last episode,

Call of Duty Vanguard

and the overall figures on the decline of the franchise would have led the publisher to question its strategy.

These statements come after the announcement of the takeover of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft, which should be finalized in 2023.

Restructuring

The future owner of the group has already said that he would probably make changes to the publishing strategy and would particularly like to see some of Activision's studios revisit forgotten franchises.

Call of Duty
