As the Corona 19 Omicron mutation has established itself as the dominant species and spread rapidly, more than 7,000 confirmed cases have occurred across the country by 9 pm on the 24th.
According to the quarantine authorities and each local government, including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, a total of 7,437 people tested positive for COVID-19 in 17 cities and provinces across the country from 00:00 to 9pm on the same day.
As there is still time until midnight, when the counting ends, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced tomorrow is expected to record an all-time high.
The highest number of new confirmed cases so far was 7,848 on the 15th of last month.
Looking at the recent number of confirmed cases, as of 00:00 tomorrow, there is a possibility that the number of new confirmed cases will reach 9,000 for the first time since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Korea on January 20, 2020.
By 9 pm that night, the count was 1,762 more than the count of 5,675 at the same time the day before.
A week ago, on the 17th, there were 4,103 more than the 3,334 at the same time period, which more than doubled.
