An oriental doctor who falsified medical records and obtained 88 million won in medical care benefits was sentenced to probation.

The Ulsan District Court announced that Mr. A, who was handed over to trial for fraud, was sentenced to 10 months in prison and 2 years of probation.

Person A, who runs an oriental medicine clinic in Ulsan, was indicted on charges of illegally receiving 88 million won in medical care benefits over 5,500 times a year since May 2016.

Mr. A made an electronic medical record as if he had treated a patient who did not even come to the oriental clinic or prescribed or administered a drug he had never prescribed before, and submitted it to the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service to get medical care benefits.

It turned out that A committed this crime because the oriental clinic was not well managed.

The court said, "The judgment was made in consideration of the fact that Mr. A returned the full amount defrauded and closed the business."
