The delivery fee paid when ordering food through the <Anchor>

app has risen significantly in recent years. As a result, the burden on the self-employed as well as consumers continues to grow.

Reporter Kim Hye-min covered why the delivery fee is rising like this.

This year, when ordering food, the basic delivery fee is 7,000 won to 8,000 won, which is shared between consumers and the self-employed, and has risen to a maximum of 12,000 won depending on the time or region.

[Mr. A/running a snack shop (delivery fee up to 7,500 won) operation: The delivery agency raises the price a lot, so there is a limit we can bear... ]

But if the delivery fee is high, won't the store remain?

[Mr. A/running a snack shop (delivery cost up to 7,500 won): (out of the total delivery cost) 1,500 won and 2,000 won (additionally) we will bear.]

A delivery agency is a delivery agency that connects restaurants and riders. It is a platform, but these companies have raised their operating rates all at once in the new year.

The reason is the lack of delivery drivers.

As Baemin and Coupang Eats expanded their business to delivery agents in addition to ordering, they raised the ransom for riders, so the existing delivery agents had no choice but to raise the basic fee.

[Hyunjoong Kim/Rider: There are many people who make less than 9,160 won (the minimum hourly wage) when one item is delivered. Since Baemin 1 has promotions and the basic fee is expensive, there are a lot of articles going out there.]

As it spread to a dispute between restaurant owners and riders, an article was recently posted on the Blue House public petition bulletin board asking the delivery agency to correct the collusion.

The Fair Trade Commission, which should investigate whether or not there was a collusion, said that it is not investigating because there has not been a report yet.

[Fair Commission official: It is easy to get hold of when we meet and record or there is an agreement, but if there is no such thing, it is quite difficult.]

[Kim Jong-jin / Korea Labor and Social Research Institute: It is a phenomenon that restaurants and riders suffer damage as intermediaries are created.

Sometimes the same goes for consumers.

After all, it is not in the market order for the delivery app company, which enjoys the most profits, to take on a larger share of this fee structure distribution.]

The government's measures to reduce the burden of delivery costs for the self-employed are urgently needed.
