Last month, on the way home from work, a mother and daughter were hit by a car in the opposite direction. There are over 200 reverse driving accidents every year.

car traveling in the opposite direction collides with oncoming cars one after another.

On the 15th of last month, a female driver in her 20s died in an accident in Geoje, Gyeongnam.

I wonder how I can run backwards, but this kind of reverse driving accident repeats about 250 cases every year.

Drivers are often drunk or under the influence of drugs, but many criticize road design as a problem.

I went to the place where the vehicle that hit Geoje started running in the opposite direction.

No-entry signs and reinforced facilities are noticeable, but they were installed only after the accident, and it is still not enough.

[Yoon Gong-hyun / Research Fellow, Korea Transportation Safety Authority: If there is even a little space here, think that you can turn left here.]

This time, I also went to Busan Geumjeong IC, which is said to have a high risk of reverse driving because the entry road and exit road are side by side.

Although it has been pointed out continuously, there are no special anti-reverse facilities except for guide lines and signs.

It was raining at night, so it was almost impossible to see anything, but when the lights are on, you can see it a little bit. The traffic volume is low, so there is no problem with incoming and outgoing cars using separate roads, the Korea Expressway Corporation explains.

[Korea Expressway Corporation: Because it is a section with low traffic volume, it is decided based on the traffic simulation result taking into account the traffic volume, local conditions, and the nature of the connecting road.] With

a limited budget, you can go to the accident site and go in reverse instead of worrying about improving the road environment from the beginning. It must be carefully designed to prevent it.
