The court sentenced a stepmother to death by abusing her 14-year-old daughter for the first time by applying the revised Special Act on Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes, called the 'Jung In Yi Act'.
Jinju Jiwon of the Changwon District Court sentenced a 41-year-old man to 30 years in prison in the first trial judgment on charges of child abuse and murder.
The court said, "It is a serious crime for a child to be abused by a weak parent. The quality of the crime is extremely poor considering the victim who died in pain without being loved at a young age."
