The search for the missing person in the collapse of the Gwangju apartment building construction site has been ongoing for three days.

Authorities resumed the search from 9:30 am today (13th).

After tracking the cell phones of 6 people who went missing yesterday, they found that 2 had their phones turned on and 4 were turned off.

Seven organizations, including the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters, sent 247 personnel, 18 equipment, and 9 lifesaving dogs to search the inside of the building.

The members of the Central 119 Rescue Team and the Gwangju Special Rescue Team perform detailed searches of the 4th basement floor to the 1st floor and the 26th to 28th floors after securing themselves with ropes.

The 26th and 28th floors are where rescue dogs showed a special reaction during their search yesterday, and it is difficult to access because the floor plates (slabs) are stacked layer by layer.

Nine rescue dogs and handlers are also sent in to search the 4th basement floor to the 1st floor, and the 23rd to 28th floors.

Unmanned excavators, aftershock detectors, sound detectors, and endoscopic thermal imaging cameras were mobilized to remove collapsed slabs and debris or to search the hard-to-reach areas.

Authorities plan to start a search outside the building after installing a covering (ceiling) type screen to prevent injuries to rescuers when conducting a ground search outside the apartment.

At around 3:46 pm on the 11th, at the construction site of Hwajeong I-Park, Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, structures such as the outer walls of the 23rd to 38th floors of the apartment collapsed, injuring one person and losing contact with six people.

It is estimated that the workers who lost contact were in charge of building windows and doors and firefighting equipment on the 28th to 34th floors of the collapsed building.
