A man in his 60s who assaulted the driver when he asked a female taxi driver to go to a motel but was rejected has been sentenced to prison.

The Jeju District Court's Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Chan-su Jang) announced today (13th) that 61-year-old A, who was handed over to trial for violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (driver assault, etc.), was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. .

On the morning of March 10, last year, Mr. A hit the head of Mr. B, a taxi driver, with his fist, injuring two weeks of dislocation.

At that time, it was investigated that Mr. A did not get off even when he arrived at the destination, but said to Mr. B, "Let's go to the motel together", and then assaulted Mr. B, saying, "I will kill you" when he headed to the nearby police station.

In the course of the trial, Mr. A's side argued that Mr. A's crime did not fall under a crime of injury, but it was not accepted in light of Mr. A's crime and treatment history of Mr. B.

The court said, "Although the accused has reached an agreement with the victim, the victim is currently suffering mental and physical damage to the extent that it is impossible to live a normal life. I committed the crime in this case,” he explained, explaining the reason for his sentencing.
