This is a 'food treatment guide' prepared by the quarantine authorities and recently distributed to doctors treating COVID-19.

It contains where, to whom, and what precautions should be taken for Pfizer's edible drug 'Paxrovid', which will arrive tomorrow.

The first to take the medication is the elderly 65 years of age or older and those with reduced immunity who suffer from blood or kidney diseases, and those who have been diagnosed within 5 days of symptom onset.

The government reviewed the age of dosing to be 60 years or older, and set it to 65 years old or older to meet the initial supply of 20,000 people.

Based on the current number of confirmed cases, it is estimated that the average daily number of new prescriptions is 125 in the metropolitan area and around 250 nationwide.

Until next month, if a doctor prescribes a prescription, health center staff will receive the treatment at the pharmacy and deliver it to the home healer's front door.

At the Living Treatment Center, medical staff supplies medicines to residents.

Starting today, the government is planning to practice delivering medicines to eat together with public health centers, hospitals, and pharmacies across the country.

[A local government quarantine department official: Assuming there is a patient, we are doing rehearsals such as medication.

When (medication to be eaten) comes in, we check how to receive it and how to administer it.]

Paxrovid should not be taken together with medicines containing 28 ingredients.

These include lovastatin and simvastatin used in some hyperlipidemia drugs, colchicine taken by gout patients, and St. John's wort ingredient taken when depressed.

Today, the government officially announces the introduction and administration plan for edible medicines, including the second supply in the middle of next month.
