For several decades, company robots have been trying to find a place in the heart of homes.

In 1999, Sony, for example, tried to win over children with Aibo, a robot dog sold at the rather unaffordable price of 2,000 dollars.

Since then, projects have multiplied, particularly on Kickstarter, with varying degrees of success.

Internet users were thus able to discover Vector, Kiki, Mini Pupper and even Varram.

Different shapes, sizes and features, these household robots are not there to help their owners and have no other goal than to entertain them.

The latest addition to the large family of pet robots is called “Eilik” and wants to conquer the hearts of Internet users by betting on his cute side.

An office accessory full of emotions

With Eilik, no impressive somersault, prehensile arms or even movement, the robot is resolutely still, screwed on its base.

To move, he will need his owner to take him in his hands and move him.

Despite this more than limited mobility, Eilik is not unwavering in interest.

While not particularly intelligent, Eilik is an emotionally diverse office companion designed to interact with people and become their friends.

Energize Lab, its creators, endowed it with four main emotional states: normal, happy, angry, and sad.

To transcribe these states, Eilik uses dynamic animations, a speaker, a vibration motor and an OLED screen for his face.

He can laugh, cry, cry, swear, be depressed or disappointed.

A robot full of sensors

Eilik has sensors all over his body and reacts when touched.

He is happy when people stroke his head and laugh when tickled his stomach.

He also reacts to his environment and will, for example, be happy to see a new object arrive or sad when an object is removed.

To calm him down, you will need to gently pat him on the head.

Finally, Eilik feels dizzy and will start to cry and get angry if you don't hold him firmly in your hands.

He is also very social with his counterparts and will interact with them if they are nearby.

Eilik does not want to replace Alexa or become a robot dedicated to the organization.

He won't do your housework or write emails for you.

However, it can act as an alarm clock, stopwatch or timer.

Its creators indicate that Eilik will have to evolve in future updates, gaining additional functions, more expressions and interactions.

To get your hands on Eilik, you have to go through the project's Kickstarter page, which currently has accumulated 627,940 euros out of the 44,178 initially expected.

To obtain Eilik, the project will have to be supported up to a minimum of 97 euros.

However, we will have to hurry, because the campaign already ends on December 29, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.

Mass production is scheduled for February 2022 and deliveries are expected to start in April 2022.
