A fire broke out on the 49th floor of a new high-rise apartment building in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do.

As it was under construction, the firefighting equipment in the apartment did not work and the ladder truck could not reach it, and the firefighters ran up to the 49th floor and put out the fire.

Red flames and black smoke erupt from the top floor of the 49th-floor apartment.

A fire broke out at the construction site of a new apartment building in Chuncheon today (12th) around 9:40 am.

19 firefighting equipment, including 5 pump trucks, were dispatched, but to no avail.

Fire helicopters also hover around the scene and there is nothing they can do.

The apartment building on fire was on a high floor that even an elevated ladder could not reach, so firefighters had to go up and put out the fire.

The number of floors that can be put out with the elevated ladder truck put into the site is up to 17 floors.

Eventually, about 40 firefighters climbed the stairs and entered the fire scene.

[Firefighter: The elevator broke down at the beginning, and then went up to the middle, and then went up again.]

It was an apartment two months before moving in, so there was no water supply yet, so there were sprinklers and fire hydrants, but it was mana.

To put out the fire, firefighters were able to put out the fire only after lowering the fire hose to the first floor and connecting it to a pump car.

This shows the limits of the initial fire extinguishing of high-rise apartment fires under construction.

[Kim Jin-gyu / Chuncheon Fire Station Field Response Team Leader: Because it is a new construction site, firefighting facilities cannot be used. We didn't fill any of the pipes with water, so we went up with all the hoses. I'm

going to connect it here.] The

fire was extinguished in an hour and a half after burning the first apartment, and one field worker inhaled the smoke, but it was confirmed to be mild.

Police and fire departments are investigating the exact cause of the fire based on reports that the fire broke out while working inside.
