A man in his 60s who was handed over to trial for assaulting his wife with an intellectual disability on the grounds that he lost his welfare card has been sentenced to prison.

Detective 6 of the Seoul Northern District Court (Director Park Ji-won) announced that A (62), who was charged with special injuries, was sentenced to one year in prison.

A is accused of injuring his wife B, who is a grade 3 intellectual disability, by hitting the head with a blunt force at his home in early July of last year.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A assaulted his wife, Mr. B, because he lost his welfare card.

A is also charged with threatening his wife B with a weapon in June of last year, and hitting the head (special assault).

The court found guilty of the charge of special injury in which Mr. A assaulted his wife B with a blunt weapon, saying, "The defendant has a previous criminal record of being sentenced to prison twice and shows no attitude of remorse for the crime."

However, in June of the same year, for the charge of threatening his wife B with a weapon, he was acquitted in consideration of the fact that it was difficult to believe the statement of Mr. B, a schizophrenic patient, and that the defendant did not agree with the statement as evidence. .
