As the police and fire departments are trying to figure out whether there were more workers at the site, there is a growing concern that there will be additional accidents at the collapse site, so the search for the current missing person was stopped a while ago. Currently, the police have launched an investigation, and a safety check is scheduled to take place tomorrow (12th) at the site.

The construction company on the site was Hyundai Industrial Development. In Gwangju, however, there was an accident last year when a building that was being demolished collapsed and hit a bus, killing nine people. The construction company at the time was also Hyundai Industrial Development. As before, this time around, residents say there were prior signs of collapse.

The building's outer wall collapsed, and the possibility of further collapse is being raised at the construction site of a new apartment building in Hwajeong-dong, Gwangju.

Neighbors say there were signs of an accident from the beginning of construction.

[Hong Seok-seon / Residents near the construction site: I have filed a complaint for 3 years since the building here. As you can see, the ground is submerged... I kept filing complaints and filing, but as far as the officials in charge say, there is no problem.]

Even when the building collapsed in Hakdong District 4, Gwangju, where nine people died, residents raised concerns before the accident.

There is a possibility that the two accidents will be identical, even that the construction company is Hyundai Industrial Development.

Although the Hakdong disaster in Gwangju occurred during the demolition process of a building by a subcontractor, the responsibility of the contractor cannot be excluded.

The head of the Hyundai Industrial Development site, the head of the safety department, and the chief of public affairs were indicted on charges of negligent manslaughter, and the trial is ongoing.

After the Hakdong disaster in Gwangju, Hyundai Development Company announced that it would strengthen the safety of construction sites by opening a risk reporting center.

However, as another major accident occurred in seven months at the construction site in charge of the construction, the arrow of criticism is directed at Hyundai Industrial Development.
