While a video of a food company worker stepping on a dried squid with a shoe was controversial online, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said that it had found the company and requested an administrative action from the competent authority.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety traced the business site based on the product packaging box that appeared in the video and confirmed that the company was 'Rural Food Co., Ltd.' located in Ganggu-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

In an on-site investigation, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety discovered violations of the Food Sanitation Act, such as ▲ unsanitary handling of food, such as stepping on dried squid with work shoes, ▲ not wearing a sanitary cap or mask, and ▲ poor cleanliness in the workplace.

It was confirmed that the company flattened the bent squid with a workshop shoe without any sanitary measures in the process of putting the dried squid in a sack at the deokjang.

The violation continued from October 26 of last year to January 8 of this year, but 3,898 kg of squid products produced during this period (3,898 livestock, 1 axis = 20 rice) were stored in warehouses and are still on the market. It was confirmed that it was not distributed.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said that it had prevented market distribution by requiring companies to voluntarily recall all stored products.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety urged "If you witness food safety violations or find products suspected of being defective, please report it to the Defective Food Report Line 1399."

On the 8th, on a social media (SNS), a video titled 'Reporting a company that works unsanitarily dried squid' was uploaded.

The 27-second video showed workers stepping on dried squid on the floor in white shoes believed to be work shoes.
