A woman in her 30s was diagnosed with Corona on the 24th of last month, 32 weeks pregnant.

Four days later, she gave birth by cesarean section and was hospitalized.

Then, his condition deteriorated and he received Ekmo and artificial cardiopulmonary treatment, but he died on the 4th.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that A had an underlying disease and did not receive the vaccine.

The hospital explained that the child born was negative for Corona 19 and had initial hypoxia, but is currently recovering.

Pregnant women are at risk for themselves and the fetus if they contract Corona.

In the United States, 120,000 pregnant women have been infected, of which 22,000 are severe and 161 deaths.

Compared to women of the same age who were not pregnant, the risk of severe severe disease was six times higher, and 97% of severely ill patients did not receive the vaccine.

It is estimated that there are about 140,000 pregnant women in Korea, but a survey on the situation of COVID-19 has not been done yet.

In November of last year, a pregnant woman who was infected with Corona gave birth to a stillborn baby, and at a university hospital in Seoul, an infected pregnant woman is recovering after Ekmo treatment.

The vaccination rate for pregnant women in Korea is estimated to be low due to concerns about the fetus.

[Jo Geum-jun/Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Korea University Guro Hospital: There is no research result that vaccination itself causes malformations or miscarriages in the fetus.

Therefore, it is not thought to have any direct effect on the fetus.]

The vaccine is considered safer than oral treatment for pregnant women, and the World Health Organization also recommends vaccination for pregnant women.
