The CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, the largest show dedicated to high tech and start-ups, opens its doors this January 5 in Las Vegas, in the midst of the outbreak of the Omicron variant.

Many groups, such as Google, Facebook or Amazon have canceled their participation.

This year, only 2,000 companies will be present, including nearly 130 French.

This is less than in previous years, but France remains the second most represented country this year at CES, behind the United States.

The start-up nation promoted by President Macron broke records in 2021, and it should continue this year.

The rise of French Tech is indisputable.

2021 was a record year in terms of fundraising, with more than 10 billion euros raised from investment funds.

France has thus caught up to the level of Germany.

French start-ups are massively attracting foreign investors.

Anglo-Saxon and Asian funds are, in fact, interested in young tricolor shoots.

163,000 direct and indirect jobs

This is for example the case of the Japanese group SoftBank which has placed part of the investments of Saudi Arabia, keen to diversify its economy.

The American fund Accel Partners has also invested millions in a dozen French start-ups, such as Doctolib, the site for medical appointments.

In terms of employment, these companies have weathered the health crisis rather well.

According to the Roland Berger firm, they now represent 163,000 direct and indirect jobs.

But they are recruiting hard.

This sector is expected to create more than 220,000 jobs by 2025.
