In August, we reported the death of Jang Hee-won, a first-class autistic disorder, while social workers forcibly fed food at a welfare facility for the disabled in Incheon. He also proposed the so-called 'Jang Hee-won Act' to prevent a tragedy from repeating itself. However, the social workers under investigation in this case have recently returned to work. Bereaved families and disabled people's groups protested.

This is reporter Jeon Hyung-woo.

<Reporter> There

are two social workers confirmed to have returned to work early last month.

A social worker, Mr. A, is being investigated by the prosecution for accusing him of abusing and killing Mr.

[The late Jang Hee-won's father: (Mr. A) is the one who started the abuse and murder, that day. While trying to prevent the child from escaping by force. If I had given up there, the child would not have died.]

Another social worker, Mr. B, is accused of violating the Welfare Act for the Disabled by assaulting Mr. Jang Hee-won.

However, after receiving disciplinary measures such as pay cuts and reprimands, he was excluded from work, but as the welfare facility operating corporation was replaced, employment was succeeded and he returned to work.

The Yeonsu-gu office said, "According to the Social Welfare Act, you can only proceed with a dismissal if you receive a sentence of imprisonment or more at trial."

Bereaved families and groups of people with disabilities protested and held a protest in the lobby of the ward office.

[People with disabilities cannot live in Yeonsu-gu.] On the

morning of the 31st, the

Yeonsu-gu

office announced that they would exclude them from work, but did not give a definite answer saying that they would consider the termination of employment.

[Nam-seok Koh / Mayor of Yeonsu-gu: We will proceed with the discussion so that we can go to not hiring succession.] When the

bereaved family and the organization protested again that they would not stop lobbying until the termination of the employment succession was finalized, the ward office eventually responded to the two people. They promised to review the succession termination and disciplinary process from the ground up and follow up within a month.

[The late Jang Hee-won's father: I killed my child, but what would the victims' parents think if they continued to work in the same place?]
