The number of domestic infections of Omicron, a new mutant virus of COVID-19, has increased by four.



The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced that as of 00:00 on the 28th, 4 additional Omicron mutation infections were confirmed, bringing the total number of infected people to 449.



Two of the new confirmed cases are domestic (local infection) and two are imported.



The newly imported cases are those from Spain (1 case) and the UK (1 case), respectively.



Details such as the route of infection and the region of occurrence of domestic infections have not been confirmed.



Of the 449 cumulative Omicron infections, 266 were domestically infected and 183 were imported.



In the early stages of the outbreak of Omicron infection, Omicron spread to the surrounding area starting from overseas travelers.



Omicron mutation infection has been reported in all 17 cities and provinces, and as for cases related to Iksan in Jeollabuk-do, Wonju restaurant in Gangwon-do, and Geoje in Gyeongnam, it has not been confirmed when, where, or from whom the first patient was infected with Omicron.



In Gwangju, Jeonbuk, and Gangwon, there were also sporadic cases of 'dark-blinking' infections with unknown routes.
