A gold exchange employee who stole 900 silver bars he was working on was sentenced to prison in the first trial.



According to the legal community today (29th), Chief Judge Shin Hyuk-jae of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced 4 years in prison to A (28), who was charged with theft.



Person A, who was manufacturing silver bars at the Korea Standard Gold Exchange, a company certified by the financial authorities, was handed over to trial on charges of stealing silver bars stored at the exchange factory from November last year to June this year to raise money for internet gambling.



The silver bars that Mr. A stole are 936 1 kg pieces, which is equivalent to about 1.55 billion won in cigars.
