A 20-year-old man who murdered a friend with a knife for giving divorce advice he did not like was also sentenced to the same severe punishment as in the first trial.

Yesterday (26th), the Gwangju High Court 2-2 Criminal Division (Judges Wi Kwang-ha, Park Jeong-hoon, and Sung Chung-yong) announced that they had sentenced a 23-year-old man charged with murder to 16 years in prison, the same as in the first trial.

Person A was charged with stabbing and killing friend B at a house in Jeollanam-do around 5 am on December 19, last year.

Person A had a drinking party with three middle school classmates, including Mr. B, around 1 am on the day of the incident.

At a drinking party at the time, Mr. A blamed himself for breaking up with his girlfriend two days ago, but Mr. B said, '(Your girlfriend) is a bad girl. Don't belittle you, but rather curse your girlfriend and forget about it.'

While the two friends who were present were away for a while, Mr. A and Mr. B got into an argument over the same problem again, and Mr. A was reported to have stabbed Mr. B with a knife in anger for 'keep touching a sensitive issue'.

Previously, the first trial judge said, "The fact that Mr. A wielded a weapon with the intention of killing Mr. B and left Mr. B unattended until the other friends came, that Mr. B mocked or made disparaging remarks after committing the crime, and Mr. B's family The sentence was decided in consideration of the fact that they had to live with pain that was difficult to heal for the rest of their lives.”

The appellate court also said, "The judgment of the lower court is just, given that Mr. A's crime is very bad, that the victim must have suffered extreme pain, and that serious irreversible consequences have occurred."
