When Citroën introduced the Ami One, we thought that the French could only have meant that for fun.

But fun became serious.

And now seriousness becomes fun again.

A buggy is placed next to the electrically rolling plastic cube, which with some mental effort is reminiscent of the legendary Méhari from 1968.

With the Méhari, of course, we have experienced things that we cannot imagine with the vehicle now called My Ami Buggy.

It should be functional and simple, in line with iconic and contemporary industrial objects, says Citroën.

Doors interfere on this path; in bad weather, transparent and, it is promised, rainproof tarpaulins can be pulled up in their place.

The roof hood fulfills similar purposes of protection in autumn and winter, in summer it is supposed to provide a little shade.

The seats, which in the Ami One can hardly compete with garden chairs, are more heavily padded in the buggy, which doesn't hurt.

Of course, the box will never be a wellness oasis on wheels, anyway, the manufacturer attaches great importance to the fact that this is not a car.

The vehicle, which is designed for two people, is officially a light vehicle and can be driven in Germany from the age of 15 with an AM driving license.

Same front and back, it is cheap to produce and probably cheap to repair if the 2.41 meter short plastic body should ever be damaged.

The electric motor achieves a top speed of 45 km / h.

The fairly manageable battery stores 5.5 kWh of electricity, which according to the standard and with big ears should be sufficient for a range of 75 kilometers.

We would advise heading for quarry ponds at a shorter distance.

After all, nobody has to worry about a complex charging infrastructure, four hours at a household socket are enough.

Citroën has not yet said whether, when and at what price the buggy will come.

His buddy Ami One has not yet made it to Germany.

Opel steps in for this, the Rüsselsheim-based company belongs to the same group and could probably not avoid bringing out a counterpart under the name Rocks.

Maybe a Rocks Buggy soon.
