Broadcaster Park Shin-young, who was handed over to trial for killing the other driver in a car accident with a motorcycle, was sentenced to a fine in the first trial.

Judge Jeong In-jae, the 5th Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court, sentenced Park to a fine of 15 million won on the charge of manslaughter under the Act on Special Cases for Handling Traffic Accidents.

Park was indicted in August on charges of killing a delivery man in his 50s when he collided with a motorcycle that entered the crossroad at a red light while going straight at the yellow light at the intersection in front of Sangam Elementary School in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul around 10:30 am on the 10th of May. .

Not all drivers were under the influence of alcohol.

The court sentenced the defendant to a lighter fine than the one-year prison sentence requested by the prosecution, saying, "We have considered the fact that the accused is truly repentant and reflecting, that there is no history of punishment, and that he has reached an agreement with the bereaved family."

Park joined MBC Sports Plus as an announcer in 2014, but declared a freelancer in 2017 and has been active in broadcasting.
