A court fined a man in his 50s for swearing and disrespecting children playing on the playground.

According to the legal community on the 23rd, the 16th criminal division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Kim Tae-gyun) sentenced 53-year-old A, accused of violating the Child Welfare Act (child abuse), a fine of 8 million won, and 40 hours of child abuse treatment program. Ordered a three-year restriction on graduation and child-related organizations.

Person A is accused of emotional abuse by swearing loudly at 8-year-old B and 9-year-old Ms. C while on a swing at a playground in Seoul last July.

Mr. A approached Ms. B, who was playing at the playground, said, "I want to ride a swing," and slapped her on the back.

When Miss C, who was nearby, said she would report it to the police saying, "Take care of it," Mr. A was gibberish and said to the children, "You are not even human."

The court said, "No one should engage in emotional abuse that harms a child's mental health and development," the court said.

However, he explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "I took into account the fact that the crime seems to have been committed accidentally and that there is no history of punishment related to child abuse."
