"There were opinions of experts from orthopedic surgery, dentistry, psychiatry, etc. that hospitalization was necessary for more than 6 weeks."

The Ministry of Justice, which disclosed the health status of former President Park Geun-hye, mentioning even detailed medical subjects, additionally disclosed the fact that the doctor's note was written in exceptional detail today (21st).

[Park Beom-gye/Minister of Justice: I also heard that it is an unusual opinion to receive a report from the person in charge of working-level command.]

During the pardon review committee discussing the subject of amnesty, the government suspended the execution of the sentence for the specific information about the health condition of former President Park. Observations about whether it is being considered came from both inside and outside the political and legal circles.

However, all eligible parties dismissed the possibility.

A high-ranking official at the correctional authorities denied that they were considering it at all, and Yoo Young-ha, a lawyer for former President Park, also said that he had no plans to apply.

Suspension of punishment is decided only after an application or suggestion by the correctional institution or the person concerned, after verification of the intention and the resolution of the Deliberation Committee.

Previously, former President Park's side applied for suspension of execution for health reasons twice in 2019, but Yoon Seok-yeol, then Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, did not accept it.

Former President Park, who had been receiving treatment for shoulder and back discs while going back and forth between hospitals and detention centers during the four years and nine months of imprisonment, is also known to have recently received psychiatric treatment for anxiety symptoms.

Despite the denials of both the government and former President Park, depending on the condition and public opinion, it seems possible to rekindle the discussion on suspension of the sentence.
