A man who attempted to sexually assault an electronic anklet after damaging it has been arrested by the police.

The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had recently arrested a man in his 30s on charges of trespassing and attempted rape.

Person A is accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman she first saw in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 17th.

The police, who arrived after receiving a report from the woman, arrested Mr. A at an officetel in Incheon the next day.

In the course of the investigation, the police found that Mr. A, a former sex offender and subject to the electronic anklet, took off the electronic anklet in Incheon and then moved to Seoul to commit the crime.

When Mr. A took off the electronic anklet, the alarm did not sound, and it is said that the Ministry of Justice, which supervises Mr. A, was not aware of Mr. A's situation until the police notified him.

The police and the special judicial police of the Incheon Probation Center of the Ministry of Justice are investigating the exact motive for the crime and the circumstances in which he took off the electronic anklet.
