After announcing last October the name change of the Facebook group to Meta, in reference to the metaverse, Mark Zuckerberg is taking the next step.

Indeed, after a closed beta last year, all Internet users in North America can now access the virtual universe of Horizon Worlds since December 9.

Meta, in an official statement, defines Horizon Worlds as "a social virtual reality experience where you can create and explore together."

To access it, users must bring a virtual reality headset from the Oculus Quest brand, which is owned by Meta.

They are therefore immersed in different worlds and they can evolve there as they wish.

According to the group, this innovation is a gateway to the future of social networks, in particular thanks to interactions with other avatars.

Restricted access and a limited universe

At this time, not all Internet users can venture into Horizon Worlds.

Indeed, access is temporarily limited to the United States and Canada and only for players over the age of 18.

No date has been given for the launch in Europe.

Even if this virtual reality universe has great promises, it currently only has one multiplayer game, called

Clash Arena

.

But the possibilities should soon expand.
