The number of people infected with the Omicron mutation, a new mutation of COVID-19, increased by 49 in just one day.
Hwang Kyung-won, head of the vaccination planning team of the Corona 19 Vaccination Promotion Team, said on the radio today (21st), "As of yesterday, there were 178 confirmed cases of Omicron, but as of today, the number has risen to 227."
As it is known that the propagation speed of the omicron mutation is faster than the delta mutation, the authorities believe that it may become the dominant species in Korea within 1 to 2 months.
In this regard, team leader Hwang said, "The (spreading) rate is expected to continue to accelerate.
