Ministry of National Defense Ordinary Military Court sentenced Sergeant Jang Mo to nine years in prison for sexually harassing Air Force Sgt. Lee Ye-Ram.

Earlier, the military prosecutors demanded 15 years in prison for Sgt. Jang at a decision trial last October.

The bereaved family strongly protested when the court ruled that strict punishment was inevitable, but found not guilty of the charge of retaliation and sentenced him to a lower sentence than the military prosecutor's sentence.

Sergeant Ye-Ram Lee, who was a member of the Air Force's 20th Fighter Wing, was called out to dinner in early March and was sexually assaulted by senior Sergeant Jang.

Sergeant Lee reported this fact of damage, but rather suffered secondary damage such as conciliation and pressure from colleagues and superiors.

Sergeant Lee, who was transferred to another unit, made an extreme choice on May 21, two months after the incident.

The trial for the second perpetrators who persuaded and threatened to cover up the case in the process of reporting the sexual assault damage of this sergeant is currently ongoing.

However, a special military prosecutor was also sent in connection with the poor initial investigation, which is another key allegation of the death of this sergeant, but none of the related persons including Jeon Ik-soo, head of the Air Force Justice Department, were prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.
