Yesterday (17th), when a heavy snow advisory was issued, on the road near Chilgujae, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, vehicles were unable to climb the snow-covered slope and were isolated for about 4 hours.
Yesterday, around 5:30 pm, reports were received from Hwasun County, etc. that there was severe traffic congestion on the road from Hwasun to Nam-gu, Gwangju.
It is known that cars could not climb because snow removal work was not done on the sloped road going up to the Chilgujae Tunnel.
Authorities received a report and dispatched two snow plow vehicles to the site, but they were blocked by traffic jams and were unable to move.
The snow removal vehicle was then able to remove the snow on the ramp after driving in the opposite lane with the help of the police.
In the meantime, drivers had to be isolated on the road for about four hours until around 9:30 p.m. when traffic became possible.
A Hwasun-gun official said, "Since the road is managed by the Jeollanam-do Road Management Office, we only found out that the snow removal work did not work after a complaint was filed."
