According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a magnitude 3.2 earthquake occurred at around 6:22 a.m. today (17th) in a sea area 38km southwest of Seogwipo-si, Jeju.



It is the 18th aftershock of the magnitude 4.9 earthquake that occurred on the 14th and is the largest among the aftershocks.



Previously, the magnitude 2.8 earthquake that occurred at 3:06 pm on the 15th was the largest aftershock.



The Korea Meteorological Administration expects aftershocks to last for several months to a year.



Today's earthquake instrument seismic intensity was 3 in Jeju and 2 in Jeollanam-do.



Instrument seismic intensity is the intensity of vibration calculated based on the observed seismic values ​​and seismic waves.



Instrument seismic intensity 3 is 'the degree to which people indoors, especially those on the upper floors of the building, feel noticeably (earthquake) and the stopped car shakes slightly', and 2 is 'the degree to which it is quiet or only a few people on the upper floors of the building feel it'.



According to the Jeju Fire and Safety Headquarters, two reports of earthquakes were received by 7 am today.



A firefighter official said, "There have been no reports of damage so far."



The Korea Meteorological Administration explained, "In areas near the earthquake, earthquakes may be felt."
