A car rental agency in Jeju suddenly closed after only receiving a reservation, so the police launched an investigation. More than 700 victims are known to have been killed.

This is JIBS reporter Jihoon Kim.

is an office where a rental car price comparison reservation platform company existed until recently.

The company sent a text message to customers asking them to get a refund through guarantee insurance along with a notice of business closure, and disappeared like this.

He left a message saying that it was closed due to financial difficulties and that he should cancel or refund the reservation himself.

Damage cases continue to be posted in the open chat room, and evidence is also shared in real time.

There are also continuing posts about suing the platform company representatives and employees, and suing them again.

Nearly 800 people are connected to an open chat room that can accommodate up to 1,000 people, but the exact number of victims or the amount of damage is not known.

It is confirmed only by talking that the damage suffered from 100,000 won to close to 1 million won.

The problem is that even if a company that has gone into hiding tries to take a refund, the maximum amount of insurance you have purchased is 20 million won.

Some credit card companies currently offer refunds according to guarantee insurance, but compensation may become impossible if the amount exceeds KRW 20 million.

There are many intermediary platforms with a similar method on the Internet, so there is a risk that the same damage will occur.

This is because business is possible only by reporting the mail-order business, and the travel business is not regulated.

Currently, damage reports and complaints have been received by the national police, and the Jeju Police Department has also started investigating the case.
