A man in his 80s, who divorced after 43 years of marriage, has been sentenced to a heavy sentence for murdering his ex-wife.

On the 4th, the 26th Criminal Settlement of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Raeni Kim) sentenced an 83-year-old man charged with murder to 18 years in prison.

Mr. A met his ex-wife B at the entrance of an apartment on the first floor of an apartment in Seoul around 8 pm on May 31st and tried to talk, but when Mr. B refused, he was handed over to trial on charges of causing death by swinging a weapon.

Mr. A, a successful businessman, had 9 children during his 43-year marriage with Mr. B. However, in 2009, the company he was managing became difficult and he was afraid of going bankrupt, so he divorced Mr. B.

After the company went bankrupt in 2012, Mr. A suffered financial difficulties and filed several civil lawsuits demanding money from Mr. B and his children. In the process, it was confirmed that he was separated from his family.

Last year, in a title trust-related lawsuit filed by Mr. A against Mr. B, Mr. B received a mediation decision to 'Pay about 200 million won to Mr. B', but Mr. B refused.

Dissatisfied with this, Mr. A found Mr. B's house, went to see him, and wielded the weapon he had prepared in advance. At the time, Mr. A was on probation for fraud and other charges.

The court said, "Person A waited for several hours before killing Mr. B, took a picture to confirm that Mr. B was the right person, and did not stop the crime despite passersby separating Mr. A and Mr. B to dry them." "He was deeply wounded that his father killed his mother, and some are pleading for severe punishment."

However, the court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "We took into account the fact that Mr. A admitted to the crime and committed the crime out of despair that he had dedicated his life to his family but was abandoned."
