According to SBS coverage, it was confirmed that a nurse at a university hospital in Seoul stole narcotics used for patients and habitually administered them.

The Seoul Seongbuk Police Station is investigating a woman in her 40s, a nurse at a university hospital in Seoul, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

Person A is accused of administering less than the prescribed amount of the opioid analgesic 'Petidine' to the patient for two months from last June and administering the rest directly to herself.

Petidine is used limitedly to relieve the pain of seriously ill patients, as it has side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, and difficulty breathing when used regularly.

A is known to have taken care of critically ill patients while taking narcotic analgesics, which have strong side effects.

The crime, which continued for two months, was caught when a colleague, who was suspicious of Mr. A's action of taking painkillers, reported it to the hospital.

As a result of the police investigation, it was found that Mr. A was taking up to 10 patient petitidine per day.

It is reported that Mr. A stated that he started taking medication to relieve stress due to personal circumstances such as high school.

The hospital explained that there was no problem in prescribing painkillers, and it was practically impossible to check the nurses' medication every time.

The police plan to send the case to the prosecution after investigating whether the hospital has neglected the management along with Mr. A's other crimes.
