Yesterday (1st) evening at a road construction site in Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, three workers were killed by a roller machine that compacted the asphalt floor. The machinist is said to have stated that the machine was accidentally operated while removing the safety cone caught on the wheel.

The heavy machinery that was running while pressing on the black asphalt floor suddenly stopped and the moment the driver got off, the machine suddenly rushed and attacked the workers working in front of him in an instant.



At around 6:40 pm yesterday evening, three men in their 60s, who were working on a road in Anyang-dong, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, were killed by a floor compaction roller machine.



The three of them were working to smooth the asphalt on the floor while repaving the road they had dug after burial of the telecommunication pipe.

At the time, Mr. A, who was driving the roller machine, is known to have stated during a police investigation, "I stopped the machine to remove the safety cone stuck on the roller wheel, and while unloading, my clothes got caught on the gear rod and I suddenly rushed forward."



The police have booked Mr. A on charges of negligent manslaughter and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident against construction officials and others.
