<Reporter> The

dismissal of the arrest warrant for former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do was decided past 11 pm yesterday (1st).

The court explained the reason for dismissal, saying that there was room for contention over whether a crime was established, so it was necessary to guarantee the right to defend the suspect, and the necessity and reasonableness of arrest were insufficient.

Earlier, the prosecution claimed that former lawmaker Kwak had helped Hwacheon Daeyu Kim Man-bae in selecting the Daejang-dong business, and requested an arrest warrant.

It is said that former lawmaker Kwak exerted influence over Hana Financial Chairman Kim Jeong-tae so that Hwacheon Daewoo could form a consortium with Hana Bank, and Hwacheon Daewoo paid 5 billion won to Kwak's son in the name of severance pay in return. It is the judge's decision.

After subtracting taxes and actual retirement allowances, about 2.5 billion won went to Kwak's son.

Former Rep. Kwak denies all these allegations surrounding him, but he is in the position of not knowing when and how he received a request from Kim Man-bae, the owner of Hwacheon Daewoo.

[Kwak Sang-do/Former lawmaker: I think so now that I asked Hana Bank Chairman Kim Jung-tae, but there is no data other than that Kim Man-bae has said such a thing to lawyer Nam Wook in the past.]

Court arrests former member Kwak As the warrant was dismissed, the prosecution's investigation into the reality of the '5 billion won promise club' is expected to be disrupted.
