The 1st Criminal Division of the Jeonju District Court (Chief Judge Kang Dong-won) sentenced the first trial to the first trial today (24th) against A (40, male) and B (41, female) who were indicted on charges of special injury and violation of the Special Act on Insurance Fraud Prevention. He was sentenced to 6 and 4 years in prison, respectively.

From November 20, 2019 to July 21, last year, the couple were indicted on charges of injuring their children eight times and collecting more than 11 million won in insurance money from insurance companies.

Afterwards, it was investigated that he received the insurance money by lying, saying, "My child cut into a broken bottle while separating collection at the garbage dump."
It was revealed that they committed the crime by subscribing to 30 insurance products when it was difficult to pay child support for their 7 children due to lack of a fixed income.
The court pointed out, "The defendants cut and stabbed their children in order to defraud the insurance money and injured them," the court said.
"The sentence of the first trial did not seem too heavy or too light, so we decided to keep the sentence of the lower court."
