A police officer who received a 'promotion gift' from a gangster who runs an illegal newsroom was subject to severe disciplinary action.



The Gwangju Police Agency held a disciplinary committee today (23rd) and issued a two-month suspension for Inspector A, who belongs to the Dongbu Police Station.



Inspector A received imported whiskey worth hundreds of thousands of won as a promotion gift from gangster B, who is under the control of the police.



Mr. B, who directly operated or was involved in the operation of an unregistered illegal newsroom against an entertainment establishment, was handed over to trial and was recently sentenced to prison.



Inspector A, who was in charge of guiding entertainment establishments and cracking down on illegal newsrooms, was referred to the Disciplinary Committee for violating the working rules, the Act on the Prohibition of Improper Solicitation and Grafting, the so-called Kim Young-ran Act.
