The union of 23 bus companies, which accounts for 44.2% of all buses in Gyeonggi-do, canceled the strike after reaching a dramatic agreement with the management after last-minute negotiations over whether to go on strike today (18th), the day of the university entrance exam.

The union emphasized its position that if the negotiations break down, they will go on strike from the first session today regardless of the schedule for the entrance exam, but as the negotiations were concluded, the unprecedented traffic disruption on the exam day was avoided.

The Gyeonggi Regional Automobile Labor Union held a second mediation meeting with the management representative at the Gyeonggi Regional Labor Relations Committee from 0 am to 5:30 am today.

At today's meeting, the two sides agreed to gradually switch to a two-shift system from the middle of next year.

Also, the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly decided to create a tripartite task force (TF) for the smooth settlement of the one-day two-shift system by January next year.

In the case of public and private bus drivers, the salary will be increased by 100,000 won and 120,000 won, respectively.

In addition, the agreement included a plan to actively review so that when Gyeonggi Province places an order for research services for next year's public bus transportation cost calculation, the salary increase, shortening of the promotion period, and establishment of late-night allowance are reflected.
