government has decided to manage the risk of COVID-19 by dividing it into five stages, so it will evaluate the risk every week and, if it is judged that the situation has worsened, it will also be considered to suspend the daily recovery in stages.

The specific criteria will be explained by reporter Park Soo-jin.

COVID-19 risk assessment is managed in a total of five levels: very low, low, medium, high, and very high.

There are five key criteria for judging risk.

These are how full the critically ill beds are, whether the number of confirmed patients can be afforded compared to the secured beds, how many new critically ill patients are in one week, and the confirmed rate and booster vaccination rate for the elderly over 60 years of age.

New confirmed cases are released every day as now, but from now on, the Corona risk assessment, which is announced every Monday, will become more important.

If the situation worsens, an 'urgent assessment' is also conducted to review the emergency plan or interruption of daily recovery.

When the national critically ill beds are over 75% full and the weekly assessment risk is 'very high' or the 4-week evaluation result is 'high' or higher, the metropolitan area and non-metropolitan area can be evaluated separately.

Yesterday (16th), more than 3,000 new confirmed cases were reported a day, but quarantine authorities evaluated the risk of the past week as 'low' nationwide, 'medium' in the metropolitan area, and 'very low' in the non-metropolitan area.
