Today (15th), the court launched the 6th compulsory execution against the facilities of Sarang First Church in Seoul.

However, this time too, the execution was canceled due to strong opposition from the church people, and more than 10 people were injured in the process.

Forced execution failed five times before.

The court's sixth execution began at 3:20 a.m. in a blitz.

A fierce confrontation ensues as the police block access to the church members on the way to the church's main gate.

[Pave the way.

The police are blocking it.] It was

early in the morning, so there were few members inside the church, so the entry of the executives was successful.

However, opposition from the minority church was fierce.

A fire broke out inside the church.

They resisted by spraying fire extinguishers and throwing tires.

From about 8 in the morning, the crowd of church members broke through the police barrier and entered the church.

The clash became more intense.

[Our members are protecting the church well! You have to go inside.]

Senior Pastor Kwang-Hoon Jeon came to the scene and encouraged the members of the church.

[Jeon Kwang-hoon / Homeroom Teacher of Sarang Jeil Church: Even if we enter a hundred, thousand, or ten thousand times, we will retake it, and some people who entered illegally today will be punished.]

Some members of the church even climbed on the telephone poles and roofs.

As fears of loss of life grew, the court stopped the execution of the death penalty as of 9:00 a.m.

This is in front of Sarang Jeil Church, where the Myeongdo execution was canceled.

While the church members still remain, fire extinguishers used in the conflict are scattered like this.

In the course of the clash, a total of 13 people were injured, including a church member, and 7 people who assaulted the police were arrested on charges of obstructing the execution of official duties.

The police plan to investigate whether or not the church members and service personnel were assaulted based on the video evidence.

<Anchor> The

reason Sarang First Church in the redevelopment area continues to resist demolition like this is because of compensation. The redevelopment association has already paid compensation for the loss and is planning to give land to the development site, but the church says it is making unreasonable demands.

Reporter Jeong Ban-seok summarized both arguments.

<Reporter> The

redevelopment area in Jangwi-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul was designated as a maintenance area in 2008.

Most of the buildings have now been demolished except for Sarang Jeil Church.

The redevelopment association and the church have long had a dispute over the compensation for demolition.

The church has already received 8.4 billion won in compensation appraised by the land expropriation committee, but is not handing over the building, demanding 56.3 billion won, which is nearly seven times higher.

The court's compulsory execution was carried out as the church lost both the first and second trial of the litigation against the 15.7 billion won compensation proposed by the court.

The church is demanding additional compensation, saying that if it is demolished, a temporary place of worship is needed in the development site and the cost of building a new church has increased significantly.

[Lee Sung-hee / Attorney (Attorney at Sarang First Church): It is unfair because it is asking for a park site within the business site, and it is not possible to meet the unit price due to the increase in the price and the securing of the mandatory parking area with 15.7 billion won...

.] The

union dismisses the request as unreasonable.

[Redevelopment Association official: Although we have already paid 8.4 billion won in compensation and are planning to pay the land, we are currently demanding unreasonable compensation to build a three-story building with four stories below ground and seven stories above the ground.] As the

positions of both sides draw parallel lines All six execution attempts were blocked by resistance from church members.

Last year, during the 3rd execution, the church even mobilized Molotov cocktails, and about 10 people were injured.
