A 50-year-old man in his 50s who habitually collected insurance money after accidentally collided with a slow-moving car was caught by the police.

The Busanjin Police Station announced today (10th) that they had arrested Mr. A in his 50s on charges of violating the Special Act on Insurance Fraud Prevention.

Mr. A is accused of deliberately causing a car accident and collecting about 3 million won in insurance money as if it was a negligent accident a total of 20 times from September 2015 to September this year.

It is known that Mr. A received the treatment fee and settlement money by putting his arm out in the side mirror of a car moving slowly on the back road in Dong-gu, Busanjin-gu, Busan, or putting his foot in the wheel.

A police official said, "Mr. A took advantage of the social perception that pedestrians become victims when a traffic accident occurs."

In the meantime, Mr. A is said to have escaped the investigation by claiming that there was no damage if the driver did not agree and reported it to the police.

A police official explained, "We started the investigation because we suspected that similar traffic accidents had been received several times."

This is a 'news pick'.
