Operations were still underway, Tuesday evening, to search for the driver of a car wrecked in the Tarn, on board which was a 7-year-old girl who lost her life.

According to a source close to the investigation, the accident took place following a refusal to comply with the driver.

The driver of a car wrecked in the Tarn, aboard which was a girl who lost her life, was "actively" wanted Tuesday, said the prosecutor of Castres.

The man who fled before the arrival of help, "has been identified," prosecutor Chérif Chabbi told AFP.

The car swerved shortly after a bend and ended up in a field in Navès, south of Castres.

The driver's wife and their two injured children

A 7-year-old girl was killed while the three other passengers in the car - the driver's wife and their two children - were slightly injured, according to the prosecution.

The link between the deceased girl and the driver and her family was not yet established, said Chérif Chabbi, specifying only that it was a family belonging to the community of Travelers.

According to a source close to the investigation, the accident took place following a refusal to comply with the driver, but the prosecutor was unable to confirm this information, stressing that the circumstances of the accident of Monday were not yet clear.
