Adoption is divided into two types: general adoption and adoptive adoption.

In general adoption, the relationship between the adopted child and the parent who gave birth to him is maintained, whereas in the case of adoptive adoption, the adoptee follows the parents' gender and is legally treated the same as the biological child.

I am not subject to the legal discrimination that can be experienced as an adopted child. Until now, only married couples were able to adopt their own children.

However, the Ministry of Justice has decided to change the law so that non-married people can adopt their own children in the future.

However, we have strengthened the adoption permit process to check whether the environment is really conducive to raising children, and to consider economic strength, we have attached a clue so that only singles over the age of 25 can adopt a child.

The inheritance system has also undergone changes.

In principle, the deceased can dispose of his or her inheritance through a will, but the Ministry of Justice has taken care of the so-called inheritance system, which requires that a certain share be left for the bereaved family.

The right to inherit the inheritance is the spouse, child, or sibling of the deceased, and the Ministry of Justice has decided to exclude siblings from among them.

In an era when inheritance was only for the eldest son, it was necessary to guarantee the inheritance to women and other children, but now the situation has changed.

There is an opinion that the oil distribution system should be completely eliminated so that inheritance can be made according to the will of the deceased, but we have decided to maintain it at this level.

[Jeong Jae-min / Justice Review Officer, Ministry of Justice: As the times change, the voices of the people that a new family law system is needed are gradually growing.

(We will develop the family system in line with the demands of the new era and the changing environment.)] The

Ministry of Justice plans to revise the improvement plan with the goal of submitting it to the National Assembly in the first half of next year after going through the process of collecting opinions.
