When a passenger collapsed unconscious on the Seoul subway, subway station staff and citizens joined forces to take first aid measures to save lives.



According to the Seoul Transportation Corporation today (1st), a man in his 60s collapsed in a state of cardiac arrest in the Seoul Subway Line 2 train heading to Gangnam near Jamsil Station at 12:20 pm on the 30th of last month.



Nearby passengers saw this and reported it to 911 and the Seoul Transportation Corporation, and Jamsil Station staff rushed to the scene.



Two passengers in their 20s performed CPR on the collapsed man, but breathing did not return immediately.



The employees, including the deputy chief of Jamsil Station, who were dispatched to the scene, brought the automatic defibrillator provided at the station and took turns performing CPR with the citizens.



The man, who was taken to a nearby university hospital by 119 paramedics, is said to have recovered consciousness after arriving at the hospital.



The day before, on the 29th of last month, a man in his 50s collapsed in a train heading for Seongsu near Sindang Station on Line 2 and saved his life with the swift response of passengers and station staff. He was given first aid by this station attendant and regained consciousness.



Kwak Chang-hyeon, head of sales support department at Seoul Transportation Corporation, said, "Since our employees have been diligently receiving passenger relief training at the company, we were able to quickly respond to emergency situations that occurred one after another and save lives."
