An ice skating coach who habitually molested his student, a former speed skater, has been handed over to the prosecution.

The Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent a 34-year-old former national ice coach to the prosecution on charges of sexual harassment and special assault.

The crime of Mr. A was first known to the world through the disclosure of Mr. B, the victim, during the 'Me Too movement' that revealed the victims of sexual violence in the sports world in 2019.

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of assaulting the victim at the Taereung International Skating Rink between 2016 and 2017, such as forcibly hugging him and kissing him, and hitting him with a helmet.

In December of last year, Mr. A completely denied the revelations when he was appointed as the coach of the Seoul City Hall speed skating team, but the Seoul City Hall withdrew the selection.

At the time, Mr. A claimed, "I was dismissed because I could not hear a statement about the damage from the prosecution and there was no sufficient basis to admit the fact of the suspect."

In response, the police explained, "This time, the victim cooperated with the investigation and stated the details of the damage." "After extensive investigations of people involved in the movement, including those involved in the exercise at the time, we have secured and sent the core evidence to reveal the charges."
