"Save my son. Save my son."

The cry of a mother who lost her 28-year-old youngest son filled the empty funeral home.

Samiljang was also completed, but the bereaved family delayed the funeral and could not easily leave the mortuary.

On the morning of the 18th, 28-year-old A, who was replacing a ventilation fan at a waste recycling plant in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, fell from an 11m high roof.

A was immediately taken to the hospital, but eventually died two hours later.

Mr. A was working on replacing the old fan installed on the roof with a new one, and he stepped on the skylight (sunlight) and fell.

At that time, Mr. A was wearing a hard hat and safety belt, but the safety line to prevent the fall was not connected.

According to the 'Roof Construction Work Safety' prepared by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, fall prevention measures such as installing a work platform or safety net are required when working on a roof that is weak in strength and has a high possibility of damage due to aging.

However, as a result of the investigation by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, it was revealed that there was a safety belt hanging facility on the site at the time, but no work platform or safety net was installed.

A's bereaved family and co-workers said, "Mr. A has a phobia of heights and was afraid to work on the roof.

The company said that the necessary safety measures were taken, and that the construction period was short and the scale was small, so it was not commissioned by a professional roofing company.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the police are checking the company's compliance with safety measures and negligence, while investigating the exact cause of the accident.
