  • Technology Apple Watch Series 7 review: few changes, but enough

In November of last year Apple introduced its first internally designed Mac processors with ARM architecture, the M1.

These processors are already present in the Macbook Air, the Mac Mini, the iMac and a version of the

Macbook Pro

designed for home users.

It remained to know what Apple's strategy would be for more powerful machines and the professional public.

The answer already has a name and it is not about one, but two chips: the M1 Pro and the M1 Max.

The new processors are an evolution of the one presented in November with more processing cores, both for

general computing and graphics

, and higher transfer speeds between the memory, which is integrated into the processor itself, and these cores.

The M1 Pro have 32 GB of RAM and

are twice as powerful in graphics

and 70% more powerful in general calculation than the M1 presented a year ago.

The M1 Max will have

64 GB of memory

, 32 graphics processing cores (instead of 16 of the Pro or 7 or 8 of the M1) and a faster transfer speed of memory to the different processing cores.

This chip has a whopping over 57 billion transistors.

Both models will allow Apple to offer similar or slightly higher performance than

Intel's most advanced PC processors

, but with the advantage of lower power consumption and less need for cooling.

NEW MACBOOK PRO

These new processors have served as an excuse to thoroughly renew the

Macbook Pro

, the teams focused on the creative public and professional developers.

Apple has redesigned these Macs by reintroducing some of the features it had dropped in recent years.

The computers, for example, once again have a

MagSafe

magnetic charging

connector (they can also be charged via USB-C), an HDMI output and an SD card reader.

The company has eliminated the controversial

Touchbar

, which few users found practical, and has increased the screen surface by leaving the webcam in a "notch" or "eyebrow" similar to that of the iPhone.

This webcam has twice the resolution of

previous

Macbook Pros

and performs better in low-light environments.

The new Macbook Pro will be available in two screen sizes, 14.2 and 16.2 inches.

The screens have more brightness and contrast thanks to the use of miniLED feedback and will support

refresh rates of up to 120 Hz

, although they can be locked at lower specific frequencies to aid in video editing tasks.

In some configurations, these machines are up to

13 times more graphically powerful

than computers with Intel processors with integrated graphics and will be able to run for 17 or 21 hours away from the outlet, depending on the model chosen.

The new equipment will begin to be sold from next week.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at

$ 2,249 with a 512GB SSD and an M1 Pro processor

.

The 16 "model will cost 2,749 euros with the same configuration.

MORE AIRPODS AND HOMEPODS

In addition to the

new processors and MacBooks

, Apple has also used the second fall event of this year to launch new audio products.

The company will sell

HomePods Mini speakers

in different colors, albeit at the same price.

It will also launch a new version of the AirPods wireless headphones with a design more similar to the Pro models, but without cancellation of ambient noise.

Apple has also launched a new subscription plan for Apple Music, Apple Music Voice, which for 5 euros per month of access to the entire

Apple Music catalog but only through Siri

and without access to spatial audio, lossless audio, the lyrics, video clips and other extras.
