The number of confirmed cases related to nursing hospitals, where a Chinese national caregiver hid the fact that he tested positive for COVID-19 and got a job, continues.

Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, announced today (16th) that 9 additional patients, including 8 patients and 1 employee, were confirmed to be Corona19 at A Nursing Hospital in Jinjeop-eup.

With this, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to this nursing hospital over the past 10 days has risen to 80.

A Chinese male caregiver in his 60s, B, was confirmed in Seoul on the 7th and a nursing assistant, C in Jeonbuk on the 10th, respectively. That's it.

Initially, the health authorities saw C as the first confirmed patient and started to identify the route of group infection.

However, it was revealed during the tracking process that Mr. B was confirmed before Mr. C.

B was tested twice at the Yeongdeungpo Public Health Center on the 5th and 6th, and the first was negative and the second was positive.

The Yeongdeungpo Public Health Center informed Mr. B by phone on the 7th of the second test result, but he explained that there was no contact after that.

The whereabouts of Mr. B was confirmed during the complete examination of A nursing hospital.

It was found that on the day he was notified of the confirmation, Mr. B only gave the first negative confirmation to A convalescent hospital and got a job.

The Yeongdeungpo Public Health Center has reported Mr. B to the police for violating the Management Act on the Prevention and Management of Infectious Diseases.

The confirmed cases of A nursing hospital were concentrated on the 4th floor where B worked.

Accordingly, the health authorities are designating Mr. B as the route of this collective infection and conducting an epidemiological investigation.

In addition, the hospital is quarantined in the same group and the movement of confirmed patients is being identified.
